I just finished reading James Hillman’s “The Force of Character And the Lasting Life” He died recently which made me look at his work and decide to read this book.
Mr. Hillman was a philosopher psychologist who was definitely an outlier. He did not subscribe to one particular school of psychology – although many feel he was steeped in the teachings of Carl Jung.
I found this book a wonderful read. Maybe, because I am entering my own ‘leaving’ – his term. The book is full of references to Greek mythology and philosophers. Mr. Hillman examined our present day paradigm of aging and shot if full of holes. Then he cleverly wove a tale of mysticism and beauty and filled in the gaps.
I am passing this book on to all I think would benefit from its wisdom and beauty. Enjoy!
